Heparin Lock Flush Solution Overview
Heparin Lock Flush Solution is a preservative-free sterile solution for intravenous flush only. It is not intended for anticoagulant therapy. This formulation is ideal in cases where preservatives should be avoided.
Each mL contains heparin sodium (10 or 100 USP units), sodium chloride, and phosphate buffers in water for injection, with a pH range of 5.0–7.5. The potency is standardized using a USP reference biological assay.
How heplock iv Works
Heparin helps prevent clotting reactions and blocks fibrin clot formation both inside and outside the body. In small doses, it prevents thrombosis, while in larger amounts, it stops thrombin activity and further clot development. However, it does not dissolve existing clots.
Indications and Usage
Heplock iv Flush Solution is used to maintain patency of indwelling intravenous devices. It can be given:

It is not for systemic anticoagulant treatment.
Contraindications
Heparin Lock Flush Solution should not be used in patients with:

Severe thrombocytopenia
