WHAT IS STAVIR 40 MG CAPSULES ?
Stavir 40mg is a capsule composition of Stavudine which is a nucleoside analogue antiviral. It blocks the growth of HIV.
WHAT IS THE USE OF STAVIR 40 MG CAPSULES ?
Stavudine is used for treatment of HIV infection when used in combination with other medicines.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS OF STAVIR 40 MG CAPSULES ?
Changes in body fat; diarrhea; headache; loss of appetite; nausea; vomiting.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions; chills; fever; muscle aches or weakness; numbness, tingling, or pain in the hands or feet; sore throat; stomach pain; stomach swelling; symptoms of high blood sugar; symptoms of lactic acidosis; symptoms of liver problems; unusual bruising or bleeding.

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION OF STAVIR 40 MG CAPSULES ?
- Drinking alcohol may increase your risk of liver or pancreas problems.
- Tell your doctor right away if you notice symptoms of infection (eg fever, weakness, shortness of breath) after you start stavudine.
- Diabetes patients - Stavudine may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: It is not known if stavudine can cause harm to the fetus. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. Mothers infected with HIV should not breast-feed. There is a risk of passing the HIV infection or stavudine to the baby.
