Pimobendan for dogs Indications
SAFEHEART (pimobendan for dogs) manages signs of mild, moderate, or severe congestive heart failure in dogs caused by:
- Atrioventricular Valvular Insufficiency (AVVI)
- Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM)
It is suitable for use alongside appropriate concurrent therapies for congestive heart failure (e.g., furosemide).
SAFEHEART also delays the onset of congestive heart failure in dogs with Stage B2 preclinical myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD), a form of chronic valvular heart disease.
Modified NYHA Classification for Dogs
- Class II: Signs like fatigue, shortness of breath, and coughing appear when exercise exceeds normal levels.
- Class III: Dogs remain comfortable at rest but have minimal exercise capacity.
- Class IV: Dogs cannot exercise and display disabling clinical signs even at rest.
