Uses of Foscarnet Sodium Injection
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Retinitis:
Foscarnet treats cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in individuals with weakened immune systems due to AIDS.
Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV):
It treats herpes simplex virus (HSV) in patients with compromised immune systems. Foscarnet is typically administered when other antiviral drugs fail to work.
Dosage of Foscarnet Injection
Ensure you follow the recommended dosage, frequency, and infusion rates. All dosages should be adjusted according to the patient’s renal function.
Storage
Foscarnet Injection is supplied in glass bottles. Use the injection only if the bottle and seal are intact, a vacuum is present, and the solution is clear and colorless. Store it at 20-25°C (68-77°F), and protect it from excessive heat (above 40°C) and freezing.
Side Effects of Foscarnet Injection
Common side effects include chest pain, headache, back pain, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, fever, and flu-like symptoms.
Precautions
Use Foscarnet with caution in individuals with abnormal renal function. Avoid rapid intravenous infusion. Do not use this medication if you are hypersensitive to it or any of its ingredients. It may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery, so consult your healthcare provider before engaging in such activities.
Warnings
